This is my cousin, Karen, with Steve. I didn't get a picture of my other cousin who was there, Alicia. She was working the registration table.

Steve had a pretty good score
I look like I kind of know what I'm doing, but I don't! (I still had fun!)

Luck was on our side last night...

Me looking very happy at home -- I won the 50-50 raffle!!
We were both pretty excited about our wins! I was so excited to win the 50-50 because of course it's nice to have a little extra money (esp. money we weren't planning on having.) Everyone has been telling us that we should take a vacation, especially while we we're waiting to adopt. We had been talking about it and researching trips online earlier in the day and the extra money was going to really help.
We had tossed around the idea of a short trip to New Orleans or Orlando again. As we were trying to think of places where one of us or both of us had never been, the idea of going to Las Vegas came up. We spent a good part of the night (after bowling) looking for vacation packages online. We finally found one we were happy with around 1 am!
Earlier this week, one of my friends had asked me if I would think about getting away for a weekend with her. We have never done a girls' trip in all the years that I've known her. We are both in need of a vacation. So, now we can do our trip, and I can get away for a long weekend with my friend, Barb, as well. (I'm not sure where we're going to go, but I would be happy with anywhere! We could even do Las Vegas again because I'm sure the trip would be full of shopping, or a spa day or other things that I wouldn't have really done on the trip with Steve.)
Steve keeps saying, "Vegas, Baby!" He's so excited. I can't wait, either. It's so nice to have something like this to look forward to.

Yay, Wendy! That's so great about hitting the 50-50!! Vegas is a fun destination...I was just there in March for a nursing conference. And I'm sure there's a lot of good travel deals out there. Good for you...have a great time!
that's awesome. I had never won anything in my life until one dinner I went to about 4 years ago. I put one ticket in 3 prizes and won all 3. I was completely shocked.
Thanks, E and Parenthood for Me!
We were so excited about the 50-50; I literally jumped up and down yelling I won! I won! I probably looked like a crazy person!!!
We're so happy to be getting away - this year has had so many hard, stressful moments. We're ready for a break. :)
What an exciting evening! I can't believe both of you won, that's luck! Have fun planning your trip :)
Wendy,
Congratulations on winning the jackpot. Hope it's the beginning of much greater jackpots in the very near future for you guys.
In reality, when I saw the title on Suzanne's blog, I was so elated--I thought your adoption had come through.
Have a fantastic time on vacation!
All the best,
Anna
