1st Gingerbread House

We had to run to Target today, and somehow this gingerbread house kit ended up in our cart.  I’ve been wanting to make one for a while, but I really didn’t want to start from scratch.  I’ve heard that it can be pretty frustrating to try to get the roof and the walls to stick together.  So this one comes pre-made and you get to decorate it.  Perfect for us right now.  Maybe next year we’ll attempt putting one together!  Zoe was really excited – she kept saying “House!”  IMG_5235

The icing comes in a bag and she helped me put it on the roof.  Not as easy as it sounds.  Especially when your assistant wants to do a taste test every 5 seconds!

Frosting done and moving on to decorating with candy.  Oh, no wait, that’s actually another taste test!

She had a lot of fun – can you tell?  I did, too.

I haven’t done much holiday decorating yet, but I’m hoping to throughout this week.  I would like to try to finish up my Christmas shopping this week, too.  We have a lot of things we need to mail, so I need to get all of that done, wrapped, and boxed.  I know it’s still early, but I’m trying to have things done so I can just enjoy the holidays as they get closer.

Looks like decorating the house was a lot of fun! Wonder if it will make it to the holiday without being eaten!
