Learning to skate

When I was younger I took ice skating lessons.  I wasn’t the best skater out there on the ice, but I had a lot of fun and liked the classes.  When we put together our adoption profile, I remember writing about how I couldn’t wait to teach our child how to ice skate.  We even have a year-round rink right here in our town, so it’s just around the corner.  I decided to take Zoe there this past Thursday for open parent-tot skating time.  She was very excited!

She did pretty well.  It was only her second time on the ice, so she still has lots of learning to do.  Mostly I held her up under her arms or around her waist, and she tried to get her little skates to glide.   She kept saying, “I ice skating!”  It was very cute.  I love that one of those things that I had always looked forward to doing someday with our child has come true.

Thanks, birthmothertalks! She was so excited. I'll have to take her back again soon. I need to pick up a helmet for her. They require the little ones to wear one. I didn't know, so we borrowed one.

I'm glad she likes skating :)

She looks so cute on skates! One of these days I am going to have to get out on the ice with you girls!
