Adoptive Parents Are Expecting, Too

I just read such a great article entitled Adoptive Parents Are Expecting, Too. It's by the author of the blog, Parenthood For Me. Very timely, especially right after Mother's Day. Wish I had found it beforehand... You can check it out here: Parenthood For Me

Excellent article...and so true! I had a lot of pain associated with this during our wait, but as it turned out, we were in "the pool" exactly nine months and one week. Now I wish we had treated is more as a "normal" pregnancy.

I really liked the article, too, Melba.

I keep trying to think of our wait as our 9 months, you know? It's hard, though, when not everyone else does. I think some people close to us are worried/nervous for us and don't want us to feel hurt if things don't work out right away (if we a failed match before a match that works out.) But the thing is...this is our time to be excited and happy. This is our time to be expecting...

Thanks for the link, Wendy. I've been thinking about being "expecting" lately. As you know, I have several pregnant coworkers and I know we're planning a little shower for them at our end of year party. The plan is for an A-Z theme; everyone gets assigned a letter and brings in a small baby item for that letter. I don't know if the plan is to include me or not. We don't know the age of our child so we don't need baby items, but if they just hand me a gift card and I have to sit and watch the others go through their gift baskets item by item I think I'm going to cry.

Wendy-Just wanted to say that I hope your wait isn't too much longer. You have had to go through a lot and I just can't wait to see the gift that will be your child someday.

Oh, Karen. That makes me so sad. I do hope that they include you in the shower in the same way that they are including the other women. I know I'll have at least one work shower in the upcoming year, too; it's just so hard.

Jennifer - You're welcome :)

Jill - Thank you. I hope our wait is short, too...probably not likely, but you never know.
