Friday is right around the corner....

I go in for an ultrasound and bloodwork on Friday morning. I also start my Lupron shots that day, too. I'm excited, but I'm sort of nervous, too. Not nervous about doing the shots - been there, done that - but nervous about the whole cycle not working. How can you not be, right?

Anyone know of ways to really stay positive and calm through the whole cycle? (Maybe that's impossible! How about ways to stay positive and calm on some days throughout the cycle!)

I start Lupron on Thursday. Maybe the trick to staying positive and calm is to know that there are so many other people feeling the exact things that you are at the same time. It made me feel better last time.

I wish I had some really good tips for you, but I don't!
The only thing I make sure to do is to treat myself well. I eat dessert, I watch movies all day if that's what I feel like doing, I get a manicure, etc. Be nice to yourself.

Thanks, Shawna. Good luck with your Lupron shots!

Jen - I love the idea of treating myself nicely! I'll have to remember to do that, especially when I'm feeling anxious or down.

Hi Wendy! I wish I had advice but this whole thing is totally new to me (being my 1st cycle and all). I think I still have that "I believe in the tooth fairy" mentality. A really good friend of mine got pregnant after her 3rd cycle and her advice to me was to expect anything at any time. If you are prepared and go into each step thinking that something may happen, it won't be a total surprise. I don't know if that's great advice because I don't want to be Debbie Downer every time I see my RE but I think it helps to be prepared for any scenario?

Good luck on Friday, Wendy! I think the nerves are normal. I agree with Jen on treating yourself and just taking it easy.

I listen to a meditation cd called "Imagery and Meditations to Support In-Vitro Fertilization". It has 4 different tracks that complement the stages of an IVF cycle. It really helps to calm me and think positive thoughts. It even puts me to sleep at night. (:

Sending you good thoughts and I'd also try that meditation cd.

I bought a meditation cd from Amazon last night - should be in the mail as I type this! I had one but the one I ordered is specifically for invitro. :)

Ok, for me it's (in order, I might add!)
1. Prayer
2. Processing my feelings w/my DH or with good girlfriends
3. Distraction of the most appropriate sort - whatever will get your mind off it!
4. Breathing/meditation
5. Walking

Tomorrow's the big day! Yippee!
